Schengen Travel Update 2026: New Digital Entry Rules Started On April 10

April 11, 2026 1 min read

Europe has officially rolled out its Entry/Exit System (EES) from April 10, 2026, changing how non-EU travellers enter the Schengen zone.

This system replaces manual passport stamping with a fully digital process that records your entry and exit using biometric data like fingerprints and facial scans.

This fully digital system will be implemented across 29 Schengen countries to streamline border control.

Travellers can expect faster processing but stricter monitoring during entry and exit.

A new “Travel to Europe” mobile app is also being introduced to simplify pre-travel steps.

If you’re planning a Europe trip this summer, expect a more digital, stricter entry process, and make sure your documents, timelines, and visa appointments are sorted well in advance.
